El ciclista neerlands Olav Kooij (Visma-Lease a Bike) se ha impuesto en la finca etapa de la 6 edicin del Tour de los Emiratos rabes Unidos, el UAE Tour, una recorrido de 182 kilmetros disputada este viernes entre el resort de Al Aqah y al ciudad de Umm Al Qaywayn.
En un final de foto-finish, Olav Kooij se impuso al sprint en la presentación a Umm Al Qaywayn por delante del belga Tim Merlier (Soudal-Quick Step) y del australiano Sam Welsford (Bora-Hansgrohe), segundo y tercero respectivamente.
El australiano Jay Vine (UAE Emirates), que se enfund el maillot de lder tras concluir tercero en la tercera etapa, super sin complicaciones la recorrido y se mantuvo un da ms al frente de la clasificacin universal individual de la ronda emirat.
Etapa tranquila, final chalado
Un final chalado, difícil y muy disputado que precis de la foto de suscripción tecnologa para precisar que la triunfo era para Olav Kooij, el novicio de 22 aos que ya acumula 30 victorias en su palmars.
Tras unos minutos de dudas las felicitaciones fueron para el muchacho de Numansdorp, y tambin para Jay vine, quien mantuvo sin problemas el chaleco amarillo, con 11 segundos sobre su compatriota Ben OConnor (Decathlon Ag2r) y 13 respecto al estadounidense y compaero del UAE Brandon McNulty. El espaol Pello Bilbao (Bahrain-Victorious) se mantuvo botellín a 22 segundos.
Una etapa previsible para el desenlace al sprint que cumpli el guion. No falt la respiro estril que normalmente no llega nunca a buen puerto. Esta vez lo intentaron los belgas Van Vanhoucke y Lennert Eetvelt (Lotto-Dstny) y el italiano Jacopo Mosca (Lidl-Trek).
Contra el singladura y sin rasgar diferencias importantes decidieron esperar al pelotn a 59 km de meta, buena decisin para evitar dejarse ms fuerzas por el camino.
El montón se adjunto en paciencia del momento de la agitacin habitual a medida que se acerca la meta. La aproximacin desencadena excitación, todos los equipos pretenden contar su `treno, pero rara vez lo consiguen.
La pelea fue ardua y lejana. A ms de 60 por hora y sorteando algunas rotondas los esprinters acudieron a la cita. Movistar se movio por delante con Cavagna para colocar a Gaviria, pero el colombiano no estuvo a la hora de la verdad.
Hubo disparate, desorden, ataques lejanos, como el de Morkov para editar a Cavendish, pero el “Intencionadamente de Man” no logr entrar en la refriega. Aquello era ingobernable, pero se desencaden la batalla definitiva a 400 metros de la lnea.
Olav Kooij atac por la derecha, Merlier por la izquierda, y por el centro Welsford trataba de sorprender. El neerlands, siempre fuerte y codicioso, meti la rueda unos milmetros antiguamente que el belga. Y la foto lo capt como vencedor en Umm Al Quwain, haber de uno de los 7 emiratos de los UAE.
El UAE Tour continuar este sbado con la disputa de su sexta y penltima etapa, de 138 kilmetros y que enlazar el Museo del Louvre de Abu Dabi y el rompeolas de Abu Dabi.
