Frente al sector Barranco Amarillo, al ideal de Punta Arenas, se mantenía a la excursión este martes la nave holandesa Oosterschlede, que forma parte del tesina internacional Darwin 200. A borde viajan científicos y estudiantes de diversas nacionalidades, quienes están llevando a límite un delirio educativo y de investigación que comenzó en agosto de 2023 y que recorrerá más de 40.000 millas náuticas hasta julio de 2025.
El tesina se encuentra inspirado en el histórico delirio del HMS Beagle del siglo XIX, que llevó a Charles Darwin a explorar las costas australes del planeta.
La iniciativa cuenta con el respaldo de las Naciones Unidas, siendo su objetivo replicar esa emblemática expedición para fomentar la investigación y la conservación armada.
Tal cual lo ha hecho en las anteriores recaladas en otros puertos, la tripulación ofrece clases virtuales tituladas “The World’s Most Exciting Classroom”, abiertas a todo notorio. Estas clases buscan educar y sensibilizar sobre la biodiversidad y la importancia de preservar los hábitats naturales.
La nave, con sus 50 metros de eslora y un mástil de 36 metros de valor, permanecerá durante algunas semanas en la zona.
