Según el postrer estudio sobre la prevalencia del tabaquismo pasivo en España realizado por la Sociedad Española de Neumología y Cirugía Torácica (SEPAR) presentado este miércoles, un 55% de los españoles no fumadores sufren tabaquismo pasivo, especialmente por la exposición al humo en terrazas. Ese porcentaje es del 24% si no tenemos en cuenta las terrazas de hostelería.
Por otra parte, la número de no fumadores expuestos al humo del vapeo en terrazas es del 38%, y desvaloración al 18% cuando se restan estos lugares. El tabaquismo pasivo es la exposición del no fumador al humo ambiental del tabaco y el estudio se ha realizado a 3.000 personas de entre 16 y 80 abriles. Se alcahuetería del cuarto estudio que se hace al respecto en España y el primero en 13 abriles. La novedad de este contempla los nuevos productos relacionados con el tabaco, tales como el tabaco calentado o los cigarrillos electrónicos.
De las personas encuestadas, el 17% fuman cigarrillos convencionales, con el viejo porcentaje en el colección de 16 a 44 abriles. El 10% de las personas entrevistadas reconoce consumir nuevos productos relacionados con la tóxico, sobre todo, los menores de 24 abriles, Por el contrario, el consumo es prácticamente torpe en personas mayores de 54 abriles.
Según el estudio, en los últimos 13 abriles, la prevalencia de tabaquismo pasivo ha aumentado sutilmente en los hogares, en el trabajo, en los centros educativos, y en locales de ocio. Sin bloqueo, entre 2005 y 2024, el porcentaje de tabaquismo pasivo general se ha estrecho del 49,5% al 24%.
Más regulación de los espacios sin humo
La coordinadora del estudio, Inmaculada Gorordo, señala que “el tabaquismo pasivo sigue siendo un problema importante en nuestro país. Los problemas sanitarios que acarrea son igualmente importantes. Encima, el tabaquismo pasivo por nuevos dispositivos están produciendo síntomas de patologías sanitarias importantes“.
Las “restricciones parciales” de los lugares públicos no son bártulos, según ha destacado la experta. “Hay que hacer restricciones totales. No hay que musitar de tapar las terrazas con una cubierta y pensar que eso es suficiente”, e insiste igualmente en la falta de incluir las nuevas formas de tabaquismo adentro de la reglamento.
Otro de los datos destacados del estudio señala que el 8% de los españoles no fumadores respira humo de tabaco en su área de trabajo, una número cuatro veces viejo en el caso de los profesionales de hostelería, con un 22%. Por esta razón, Gorordo apremia a instaurar mayores restricciones del tabaco en las terrazas de los bares y restaurantes.
El doctor Juan Antonio Riesco, miembro del equipo de investigación del estudio, ha destacado que los síntomas y a las enfermedades que produce el tabaquismo pasivo influyen en la mala cambio en las enfermedades obstructivas crónicas, con la presencia de síntomas de forma persistente y crónica, agudizaciones frecuentes y pérdida de capacidad pulmonar. Encima, impacta en la enfermedad cardiovascular, en el síndrome coronario agudo y se relaciona con el expansión del cáncer del pulmón. “Son tres entidades que se asocian a una pérdida o a un incremento de la mortalidad en este perfil”, ha señalado.
Así mismo, ha alertado de que “ya hay datos” de que la exposición a los aerosoles de los nuevos productos de tóxico “van a producir alteraciones muy similares a las que produce la exposición pasiva al tabaco convencional” en el ámbito de la sanidad respiratoria, la sanidad cardiovascular y la oncología.
Carlos Jiménez Ruiz es miembro del Comité Investigador de SEPAR y ha reclamado que “es imprescindible que se modifique la flagrante reglamento que regula el consumo de tabaco en los lugares públicos abiertos y cerrados, no solo para los cigarrillos convencionales, sino igualmente en todo lo que se refiere a la distribución, publicidad y consumo de los nuevos dispositivos con tóxico”, y concluye que “son datos que precisamente avalan la falta de dar saltos delante”.
